Rango Guns Down Rivals In Home Video Debut

Paramount may again have been thinking “Who needs DreamWorks Animation?” when its own home-grown Rango climbed to the top of the DVD and Blu-ray sales charts despite being in stores only two days last week. Moreover, according to Home Media, magazine, 46 percent of its sales were recorded for Blu-ray discs. Earlier this month Paramount established its own animation division, amid speculation that it plans to dump its deal with DreamWorks Animation at the end of its current contract. But Katzenberg seemingly played down that speculation, remarking, “Their going into the lower-end of the animation business isn’t going to impact DreamWorks at all.”»
